After Ram Lalla ‘pran prathistha’ ceremony, PM Modi’s first visit to Ayodhya for Lok Sabha election campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's political stride is gaining momentum as he gears up for another whirlwind of Lok Sabha election campaigns, this time targeting key constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. The Sunday itinerary is packed with stops at Etawah, Dhaurahra, and the spiritual epicenter of Ayodhya. After crisscrossing Jharkhand, Bihar, and Gujarat, PM Modi's arrival in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday evening marked the beginning of a strategic push alongside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, starting with a resounding roadshow in Kanpur.

The spotlight of his Uttar Pradesh tour will be the symbolic visit to Ayodhya, scheduled for Sunday evening, marking his first presence in the sacred city since the momentous 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram Lalla in January. The significance of this visit cannot be overstated, particularly against the backdrop of the Ram Temple's emotive journey to fruition.

In Ayodhya, PM Modi's roadshow is not just a political spectacle but a cultural panorama, spanning approximately 2 kilometers along the revered 'Ram Path'. The route, from Sugriva Fort to Lata Chowk, will be adorned with the vibrant tapestry of various communities clad in traditional attire, symbolizing the rich mosaic of India's cultural heritage. With meticulous planning, the route has been segmented into 40 blocks, ensuring maximum outreach and engagement with the populace.

Preparations in Ayodhya are in full swing, mirroring the fervor and anticipation accompanying PM Modi's visit. The city is bedecked with embellished streets and elaborate decorations, reflecting the profound reverence for the occasion. Acharya Satyendra Das, the venerable chief priest of the Ram Temple, expressed anticipation, remarking, "This is his (PM Modi’s) first visit to Ayodhya after the ‘Pran Pratishtha’. He will visit the sanctum sanctorum and hold a roadshow thereafter till the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk. The seers and mahants of Ayodhya will accompany him during the roadshow."

Security measures have been ramped up in Ayodhya, attesting to the gravity of the occasion and the imperative of ensuring a safe and secure environment amidst the influx of devotees converging on the city in anticipation of PM Modi's arrival.

The political calculus underlying PM Modi's extensive campaign itinerary in Uttar Pradesh is unmistakable. With 80 parliamentary seats at stake, Uttar Pradesh assumes paramount importance in the electoral landscape, wielding considerable influence over the trajectory of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Against the backdrop of an extended polling period until June 1 and the subsequent vote counting slated for June 4, every campaign stop holds strategic significance, none more so than Ayodhya, set to cast its vote on May 20.

As the electoral drama unfolds, PM Modi's foray into Uttar Pradesh signifies not just a campaign blitz but a nuanced orchestration of political strategy, cultural symbolism, and religious resonance, underscoring the intricate tapestry of Indian democracy in motion.
